Picture of People
The first major UK show of Brazilian artist Vik Muniz focuses on his series of portraits. The photographic images include works from art history and portraits of well-known people. His choice of materials to make his photographs reads like an extraordinary shopping list; chocolate, ink, peanut butter, sugar, soil, thread, glue, and more recently diamonds and caviar have all been used by Muniz. With a strong sense of irony and playful vitality he breathes new life into iconic images. < via BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art >
